Study Tip Archive - March 2012
| "It is best to do assignments and projects as soon as you can. There is no reason to put them off and it is good to complete them before they are due. Then you can concentrate on studying material from class that will be on exams. And do homework and extra problems so when it is time for the exam you can feel more confident. " | ||

| "The most important thing is to understand every single thing that you have to study. Understanding helps you connect with your studies. It also helps you to remember what you study for a much longer period. So, question anything you don't understand until you gain understanding." | ||

| "The guestion that I often ask in my classes is do you eat a roti in small pieces or as a whole at once. Obivously in small pieces. In comparison, how do you plan your studies - everything all at once? You must remember that the mind has a maximum attention span. After every 25 minutes of studying your attention really falls. You should study in small units varing between 25 to 30 minutes. By this method a typical 3 hours of studying can be done with 3 to 4 gaps in between of about 4 to 5 minutes." | ||

| "Without the motive to study hard, no matter how effective your strategies are, they just can't help you. The first thing you must do in order to improve your results is to build your own motive to study hard. Are you feeling reluctant to study? Are you being forced to study by your parents, the pressure of your teachers and the other students? And while studying, are you regarding it as a hard job? These are signs showing your lack of motive to study. Think about this: if you have to study anyway, why not regard it as a passion instead of a difficult job forced to be done? Although it seems easier said than done, the way to do that is simple, just build your motive. Sometimes you know that studying is the right option, but when you don't feel like studying, you may ask, "Why should I study hard?" If you have thought of that question, congratulations, you are getting a step closer to studying unforced, by your own will, as well as achieving a better academic result. That's it - the question that when you have answered it for yourself, you would create your own force that pushes you to study hard, in other words, your initiative to study hard. So why should we study hard? First, think about your parents. Were your parents good at studying? If they were really good, try to outmatch them! Ask them to share about how they did it, and what they had learned. Then, aim at achieving an even better result than them. This would provide you with your motive to strike for perfection and surely beef up your grades. Why do your parents often force you to study? The answer is simple - they want you to have a better result than they achieved! This means that they have certain expectations for you. Don't you feel that when you have achieved a good result, your parents would be proud of you? Now, consider your teachers. Remind yourself of how hard your teachers have worked to teach you. Do you have any idea of how much effort they have put in for you? " | ||

Update details about what you are studying to make them current. Always try to recollect the information. Set high goals for yourself and strive to achieve them." | ||
